7. CURRICULUM AND TEXTBOOKS
Puerto Rico Christian School uses a variety of textbooks in our curriculum. Our curriculum is a Christ-centered program which sets high academic standards for our students.
Whenever practical, Christian textbooks are used at PRCS. The A Beka series is used in science classes when possible. In other subjects our textbooks come from Houghton Mifflin, Silver Burdett & Ginn, Prentice Hall, and other publishers.
Daily Bible classes utilize the Bible
as the main textbook, and include considerable memorization of scripture passages.
Some grades may also use workbooks or supplementary texts. The Bible or Biblical principles are integrated into every academic area.
PRCS provides
the textbooks and workbooks needed by students. All hardcover books remain the property of PRCS, and shall be returned at the end of the school year or upon leaving PRCS permanently.
All books will be checked when handed out at the beginning of the school year and reevaluated at the end of the year for any damages. Students are expected to take care and not mark, tear, or damage any textbook assigned to them.
All school books should be covered with loose (not adhesive backed) book covers. If damage or loss occurs, a fine or replacement cost may be assessed. Consumable textbooks are the property of the student and do not need to be returned.
